Executive Summary

The vision of the Virtual Country Club is to reproduce the experience of a high-end exclusive country club in a simulated environment. The club will be completely contained within a 16,000 square foot building. The customer model will be an exclusive membership, and will not allow public play. With t-time scheduling, the facility can comfortably handle 500 members, but the total number of members initially will be capped at 300 to ensure availability and a high-end experience. There will be 10 golf bays, a short game area, and a gym within the facility. In addition there will be facilities for meditation, yoga, wellness and exercise classes, card rooms, a bar, and locker rooms. Members are entitled to use of the facilities 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Each member will have a key card enabling access at all times. There will be a golf pro and a fitness pro in addition to the general manager to ensure the fitness and golf potential is maximized for members.

Uniqueness

What makes this business unique is the combination of fitness and golf in a high-end, high-tech, exclusive country club atmosphere indoors. The fitness angle will be focused on both golf health and golf performance. The lack of public access means the equipment can be much nicer, and the exclusivity means that it will suffer very little wear. The facility can be available 24/7 because each person with access has a vested interest in keeping the facility nice. Having multiple owners that are also users will help maintain vigilance and stewardship.

Targeted Customer

The customer targeted is one of two profiles:

  1. The wealthy golfer who wants to enjoy golf more than just in the summer. This person will recognize the additional value of networking connections with high net worth individuals and appreciates the privacy and availability that exclusivity offers. This customer appreciates the fitness personal training as a way to stay healthy and able to golf longer into life.
  2. The aspiring pro golfer who wants every possible opportunity to improve physically and mentally. Advanced technology to fine tune a professional-capable swing is important, as is access during bad weather or lack of daylight. The golf-focused fitness equipment and mental programs are a big draw.
The two targeted customer groups will be symbiotic. Wealthy golfers will appreciate having future tour pros among the membership, and the future tour pros will appreciate having future sponsors of their careers among the membership.

Location

Located in Eugene, OR, the Virtual Country Club will be primed to take advantage of the rainy and cold Oregon Winters. With a crossover demographic with the Eugene Country Club, being located within a mile of ECC will be a big advantage.
